Amazon a câștigat pe deplin pariul privind „Project Hail Mary”, filmul depășind recent „Creed III” pentru a deveni cea mai profitabilă peliculă a companiei. Potrivit techcrunch.com, bugetul raportat al filmului se ridică la aproximativ 200 de milioane de dolari.

Aceasta este o sumă considerabilă pentru orice film, dar cu atât mai mult pentru unul care nu este o continuare sau parte a unei francize existente. În schimb, filmul se bazează pe un roman de science fiction best-seller scris de Andy Weir, ale cărui carte „Marțianul” a fost adaptată cu succes într-un film acum un deceniu.
