Here are the biggest storylines from Saturday and remaining matchupsDay 2 of the DI baseball regionals are winding down, so we are about to sign off for the night. And eight-and-a-half innings into its elimination game on Saturday, the storylines grew even louder. The Bruins were down to their final three outs, trailing two-seed Virginia Tech 5-3 after the Hokies added an insurance run in the top half. They were on the verge being just the third-ever top four national seed to go 0-2 in a regional. But UCLA lived up to its ‘comeback kids’ nickname, doing the unthinkable and walking off VT for its 30th comeback victory of the season, the most by an DI team, on Phoenix Call’s single.   It all started with Mulivai Levu and Roman Martin, crushing back-to-back homers to right and left fields, respectively, in what felt like a heartbeat, tying it at 5-5. Will Gasparino followed these up with an infield single to shortstop, and two batters later, pinch hitter Dominic Cadiz ripped a single to left to move his teammate up to third. Enter Call. The junior, who was credited with the RBI walk to win the Big Ten tournament, laced a single into an unoccupied left field to end it. Star Roch Cholowsky was the first player to reach his jubilant teammate, seconds later joined by a sea of blue jerseys. They will take on Saint Mary’s at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday for a spot in the regional final against Cal Poly.  PHO IS THE HERO‼️ 📺ESPNU#GoBruins pic.twitter.com/qfk2aqRkKH Virginia eliminated the first national seed in No. 9 Southern Miss from the NCAA tournament, 15-11, in an intense 11-inning slugfest.  The loss marks the Golden Eagles’ second consecutive season of losing a regional they hosted. Tensions were high and bats were hot from the get-go in Hattiesburg in a game that featured a player ejection. UVA led 9-6 by the end of the fourth and 11-8 by the seventh, while the USM put together a three-run eighth to tie it 11-11. But that was the last bit of energy USM could engineer at the plate, unable to put another run across for the rest of the game.  The opposite could be said for the Cavaliers, who poured on four runs with two outs in the 11th on Zach Jackson’s two-RBI single up the middle and Kyle Johnson’s two-run blast. Johnson was also the starting pitcher for UVA in the game.  Southern Miss notched its 10th straight season of 40 wins, a feat no other program in DI has achieved.  The road to a 2-0 start and regional final is a treacherous one for four seeds. It takes beating one of the top 16 teams in the country in their opener, followed by the winner of the two-three seed matchup. Yet, two underdogs prevailed in Milwaukee and Little Rock.  Milwaukee wreaks havoc at the plate again, downs two-seed UCF Milwaukee carried its 13-run performance against No. 4 Auburn into its meeting against UCF, cruising to a 13-6 win, becoming the 12th four seed ever to start 2-0 in a regional.  The Panthers scored nine runs in the first three innings against the Golden Knights, three more than they did against Auburn. Three players finished with two hits and/or three or more RBIs.  THE MILWAUKEE PANTHERS ARE HEADED TO AUBURN REGIONAL FINAL 🔥🔥🔥 27-31 and 1 win away from Super Regionals. 3 wins away from Omaha. Incredible. pic.twitter.com/xMcdYNkddB Little Rock staves off three-seed Jacksonville State's late comeback The Trojans' path to the regional final was more trivial than its partner in Milwaukee, holding off Jacksonville State, who scored three runs in the final three innings. Little Rock led jumped out to a 4-0 lead early, but the Gamecocks cut the deficit to one run entering the fifth. By the ninth inning, they had an opportunity to tie with runners on first and second with two outs, but couldn't complete the comeback.  Milwaukee and Little Rock become the 12th and 13th four seeds ever to start 2-0. Eight of the last 11 to do it have reached the super regionals. share with Facebookcopy link4:29 am, May 31, 2026FINAL: Milwaukee 13, UCF 6We have our first four seed to reach the regional final. Milwaukee cruised to a 13-6 win over UCF, going 2-0 in the first two regional rounds, and is now one win away from its first ever super regional appearance. They become the 12th four seed to start 2-0 in a regional.  The Panthers scored nine runs in the first three innings against the Golden Knights, similar to its barrage against No. 4 Auburn on Friday. Three players finished with two hits and/or three or more RBIs.  Eight of the 11 previous four seeds that have reached the regional final have made it to the super regional. share with Facebookcopy link4:29 am, May 31, 2026FINAL: No. 7 Alabama 7, USC Upstate 5No. 7 Alabama has joined the national seed and regional final company, staving off USC Upstate’s late comeback to win 7-5.  The Crimson Tide plated four in the third inning to build its lead, thanks to Eric Hines’ three-run homer. They scored the rest of their runs in fourth through sixth, tallying one in each. The Spartans threatened in the ninth, bringing the tying run to the plate with two outs, but couldn’t mount the comeback. The winner of USC Upstate and Oklahoma State will play Alabama in the regional final scheduled for Sunday evening at 8 p.m. ET.   share with Facebookcopy link3:42 am, May 31, 2026FINAL: No. 11 Oregon 4, Washington State 0Home runs have been a hot commodity for No. 11 Oregon this season, hitting 103 this season, the most in the Big Ten. Unsurprisingly, it willed them to the regional final, beating Washington State 4-1 behind Naulivou Lauaki’s three-run blast in the ninth.  The Ducks had the upper hand for most of the pitchers’ duel, scoring the game’s lone run in the first eight innings. That was until Lauaki added major insurance, hammering a 400-ft homer to center.  This was their first shutout win since March 29. They will face the winner of Oregon State and Washington State’s rematch at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday.  𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐈𝐃𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐄?@junior_lauaki with the HUGE 3-run HR in the top of the 9th to put the Ducks up four runs!#GoDucks pic.twitter.com/4x5oKiA1Xk share with Facebookcopy link3:26 am, May 31, 2026FINAL: No. 2 Georgia Tech 9, Oklahoma 3No. 2 Georgia Tech mashed its way, once again, this time past Oklahoma to secure its spot in the regional final. They’ve out scored their two opponents 31-8. The Yellow Jackets didn’t break the game open until the seventh inning. Up 5-3, GT capitalized on the Sooners’ miscues with four straight batters reaching base to start the frame via an error or walk, before Alex Hernandez hit a two-RBI single to left. They tacked on another run after the rain delay. Parker Brosius hit two homers earlier in the contest. Georgia Tech is one win away from its first super regional appearance since 2006. They will play the winner of Oklahoma and The Citadel, who play at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Three of the blasts came back-to-back-to-back in No. 6 Texas’ five-run second inning. Aidan Robbins started the party off, clobbering a three-RBI no-doubter to left center. Carson Tinney followed with one to center and SEC Freshman of the Year Anthony Pack Jr. capped it off with another to left center. It was his fourth homer in the past two games. They would go on to score 10 more runs before the final out, and will await the winner of Tarleton State and UC Santa Barbara for Sunday evening meeting at 6 p.m. ET.   FOURTH PACK JACK OF THE REGIONAL 💣#HookEm | @theeantpack pic.twitter.com/jtHdim5ZY1 share with Facebookcopy link2:33 am, May 31, 2026FINAL: UC Santa Barbara 15, Holy Cross 1UC Santa Barbara surged past Holy Cross in its elimination game, winning 15-1. It was the most runs the Gauchos have produced in an NCAA tournament game ever. They leaned on their bell cow, Jackson Flora, to keep their postseason hopes alive, and he did just that. He improved to 12-0 on the season, going 7.2 innings and giving up just one run on two hits while fanning nine, now the school’s single season leader in strikeouts. Ten different players scored in the contest and nine recorded hits. They will play the loser of No. 6 Texas and Tarleton State at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. share with Facebookcopy link1:42 am, May 31, 2026FINAL: No. 15 Kansas 5, Arkansas 3Welcome back to regional finals, No. 15 Kansas.  The Jayhawks hung on to beat Arkansas in a neck-and-neck battle, 5-3, to reach its first regional final since 2009. KU kept up with Arkansas stride-for-stride for most of the contest, answering the Razorbacks’ one-run second with a run in the third, and again in the fifth, where each team tacked on two more runs.  They finally separated themselves from the two-seed in the latter frames, scoring on a walk in the seventh while Augusto Mungarrieta added insurance with a homer in the eighth. Closer Boede Rahe shut the door, giving up no hits with three strikeouts against seven batters. Kansas will face the winner of Northeastern and Arkansas, two teams they’ve already faced, on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET. The Ragin’ Cajuns’ offense spread the love, scoring runs in six of their eight innings at the plate. Three players collected at least three hits, including Mark Collins three-hit, four RBI day. They used four arms in the contest, none giving up more than three hits.  They will play the loser of No. 14 Mississippi State and Cincinnati at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday. share with Facebookcopy link1:09 am, May 31, 2026FINAL: Kentucky 11, No. 16 West Virginia 9From last four in to the regional final, Kentucky has now moved one win away from its fourth-ever super regional. They outlasted No. 16 West Virginia in an amped-up 11-9 thriller.  The Wildcats silenced Morgantown at the start of the contest, commanding a 6-0 lead entering the third. However, the Mountaineers answered in a mighty way, scoring six unanswered runs and bringing their faithful back to life.  The two teams were tied 8-8 entering the bottom of the eighth when Kentucky’s offense dealt its final blow, putting three runs across, enough wiggle room to hold off WVU one final time. They will play the winner of Wake Forest and West Virginia, the regional’s one and two seeds, who face off on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET.  KENTUCKY TAKES DOWN WEST VIRGINIA 🔥🔥🔥 WILDCATS ADVANCE TO MORGANTOWN REGIONAL FINAL. Finishing up its 18-2 opening win this morning due to Friday’s inclement weather, No. 3 Georgia didn’t unload the tank on the Flames like it did against LIU, but the lineup’s power was on display. Five different players sent one out of Foley Field, including Daniel Jackson’s 29th blast of the season in the first. UGA will await the winner of Boston College and Liberty, who play at 12 p.m. ET on Sunday. .@Djackson2100 picking up right where we left off this morning 👏 T1 | UGA 2, LIB 0#GoDawgs pic.twitter.com/bG8syrDl6I share with Facebookcopy link12:51 am, May 31, 2026Final: Oregon State 9, Yale 2Oregon State eliminated Yale, 9-2, backed by another starting pitcher masterclass, this time by Eric Segura.  Ethan Kleinschmit tossed 5.2 innings yesterday in the Beavers’ opening loss to Washington State, giving up just one run on two hits. Segura delivered part two a day later, going 6.2 innings and allowing one run on two hits highlighted by nine strikeouts, a season-high. The offense took off in the eighth, scoring six runs that led to the team’s nine-run total. Oregon State will play the loser of Oregon and Washington State at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Pirates punched first in Boshamer Stadium’s packed ball park, taking a 3-0 lead by the end of the third against UNC’s ace Jason DeCaro. None of that seemed to matter for the Tar Heels, scoring seven unanswered runs between the fourth and sixth. ECU cut the four run deficit to two in the seventh on Jeff Sabatar’s two-RBI triple, but went nearly silent at the plate after that, going 1-6 in the final two innings.  North Carolina will face the winner of East Carolina and VCU’s 12 p.m. meeting on Sunday. Dana White recently said former UFC champion Anderson Silva “won’t talk to me to this day” after he said “it’s over” for him at age 40, and it seems that “The Spider” didn’t enjoy those comments. White told Rolling Stones in a recent interview that the Brazilian did not like the way his final moments in the promotion were handled, discussing Silva’s departure from the UFC following a loss to Uriah Hall, which was his third loss in a row and seventh loss overall in nine fights, and Silva reacted to it in the comments of an Instagram post.
