Rebootul 'Baywatch' de la Fox își alege protagonistul: Stephen Amell

Stephen Amell va juca rolul lui Hobie Buchannon în rebootul mult așteptat 'Baywatch', conform celor de la hollywoodreporter.com. Această serie, formată din 12 episoade, va avea premiera în sezonul 2026-27, din partea Fox Entertainment și Fremantle, care dețin drepturile pentru show-ul original. Amell este cunoscut pentru rolurile sale din Arrow, Heels și Suits LA.

Amell, care este pregătit să se bucure de plajă în costumul său de baie roșu, a fost ales pentru un rol principal constant în noua versiune a celebrului serial. Matt Nix, producător executiv și showrunner, a declarat: “Din prima conversație, Stephen Amell a adus exact ceea ce acest nou capitol al 'Baywatch' necesită: inimă, intensitate și acea energie de erou inconfundabilă. Este genul de protagonist care poate alerga în pericol, să suporte greutatea emoțională și, în același timp, să facă totul să pară distractiv. Suntem foarte entuziasmați că începem.”

Producția pentru 'Baywatch' este programată să înceapă în această primăvară în Venice Beach și pe terenul studiourilor Fox din Century City. Nix (Burn Notice, The Gifted, True Lies) este showrunner și producător executiv împreună cu producătorii executivi McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto și Mike Horowitz. McG (The O.C., Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation) va regiza și primul episod.

Seria originală 'Baywatch' a debutat în 1989 și a devenit rapid cel mai vizionat show din lume, fiind difuzată în peste 200 de țări. Aceasta l-a avut în rol principal pe David Hasselhoff ca Mitch Buchannon și a contribuit la lansarea carierelor vedetelor precum Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra și Jason Momoa.

Amell este reprezentat de UTA, Leverage Management și Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
